I know I'm a day late posting this here but I went to a gig yesterday, got a bit tipsy and forgot.
This project takes a little explaining cos it's a fucking multimedia art installation (how 90s am I? ) It started off in late September with me deciding I wanted to learn 3D modelling and animation using Blender (which is a headfuck to begin with). From there, I decided to do a Hallowe'en project and as I'm a total noob with Blender, I figured I'd try to keep the modelling / animation aspects to a minimum. So to flesh it out a bit and give me something to work around, I then wrote a short story (a little over 6000 words) in a sort of classical gothic horror vein and inserted that into the Blender animation, and to top it off, then tried to write a musical soundtrack to what is basically a dull video of a book. Yeah, it was kind of a stupid idea, but I did it anyway.
So anyway, the video is here:
If you're finding the animated page turning too much of a nuisance interfering with reading the text, if you prefer you can just download the soundtrack from Bandcamp for owt or nowt: I've included a .pdf file of the story as bonus download material.
Anyway, there's basically three things for you to get stuck into: a short animation, a short story and a 23 minute soundtrack written in 4 days in the teeth of a looming self-imposed deadline. You might just enjoy one of them.

Well I just watched this, but didn't read it, even though I think it would make sense that I did.
Anyway, nice strings in the tune and I kinda think the music was well made. Even if I'd read the texts I'd probably understand only part of em. But yeah, I enjoyed the music - good stuff.

I really like this, the animation is pretty cool.
I don't really use Blender much, it's ok, but I prefer 3DSMAX for all my premium 3D work that I do.
I like the music, very cool indeed! thanks for sharing!

Wow, quite a project and you have pulled it off. I did read it and enjoyed it. You have quite a talent for writing. And the music fit it perfectly. It brought to mind the old black and white horror films I watched as a kid. I could picture Bela Lugosi stalking around to that sound track. The mix is very good. Were you also using something like a bassoon along with the strings?

Wow, thanks Henry! Yeah, I was going for that sort of classic gothic horror vibe .: a mixture of threat and melancholy. There's a clarinet in there. I did actually try a bassoon at first, but I dunno.... I just love the sound of a clarinet. Glad you enjoyed the story too. I should probably try to write more often, but it's a struggle to find time and motivation. Thanks again man!
