dont know what it is but I've been listening to 80s music the last week or so, I like the likes of u2, human league, the cure run dmc, salt and pepper Mazzy Star ect... do you ever take a journey back to this decade, lots of good music, who were you listening to in the 80's? try it! take a trip back
Though I like Mazzy very much, my travels tend to go to the '60s and '70s (pre disco). I fell off the radar somewhere around 1977. I think Blind Faith was the greatest psy rock album ever (though Clapton is over rated). Followed by the works of Pink Floyd and ELP. I won't get started on the folk groups. That is the core of my cover songs.

Love a bit of 60's got to admit alot on my playlist there, Clapton possible that greatest guitarist of all time. Maybe, lots of competition out there, loved leyla, interesting stuff Mrty, folk groups a plenty ey?
My favorite by far was Crosby, Stills, and Nash: Young later on. I could sing nearly all harmonies (though an octive lower in the case of Nash). My brother and I would often sit and sing duos. Cat Stevens, know how to play nearly every song on every album up to and including "Catch A Bull At Four". Favor the early one "Mona Bone Jakon". I suck at most of them mind you but I know the chords for all. Lately I have been unsing the capo to get some of them more in my range. The baritone guitar is perfect for Traffic "John Barleycorn Must Die". That song is played on the 7th fret so the baritone tuned to a B instead of E is in the right key. It makes the song much darker. Play about half a dozen Elton John Songs from his first album to but not including Yellow Brick Road. That album and all after suck. Eagles, the first three albums.
As for Young, I have a hand full of favorites from CSNY to On the Beach. Lately, I've been working on "The Old Laughing Lady" in a double drop D. Love that song as well as "Don't Let It Bring You Down and "Oh Lonsome Me".
Dylan, a few. Favorites are Knocking on Heavens Door, Times are a changing, Ring Them Bells, Blowin in the Wind.
Couple Fleetwood Mac. ELP, Traffic (Try "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" on acoustic even 12 string)
Pink Floyd- a few songs, Try "Wish You Were Here" on acoustic. Need a 2nd or third person for leads.
Then there is a guy named John Prine (RIP). His songs are not bout the instrument or music. They are about the poetry, much like Dylan.
I just wish I could post these without he fear of being sued.
I disagree with you on Clapton. There are others that are far better. Just different genre.

The Clapton thing I dont know, hendrix is up there as well, and I would even stretch to say the Edge from U2 is up there with the rest of them, but I'm not a guitarist so you may know more.
You are pretty hot on the guitar so maybe you'd be up there too, who knows
Thanks Ivan but no. I am just a "2 bit hack". I still enjoy playing those covers. My peroneal works have suffered due to the revived interest in my past musical likes.

Moving on to house at the moment it went pop. One of the songs that made me fall in love with rave as a kid, full of positivity and hope for a better future with the incoming new decade after the rotten shitheap that was the 80s.
Adamski - Killer (Live)
From the days when all you needed for a live rave act was a synth, a drum machine, a rastafarian MC and a costume that made you look like a zebra. This is the instrumental version of a tune that would go on to be a massive hit in 1990 with Seal on vocals. The video is in mono but it still sounds fantastic as the tune builds up and crowd gets increasingly amped. Fantastic atmosphere like.
Lucinda Williams was recording and performing in the late 80s. Last thing I went to before the pandemic kicked into dear, my wife and I saw her in concert.
Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings had not made a record yet in the late 80s, but were playing the clubs in Nashville. That's where Rawlings found his antique Epiphone that he records on and performs on pretty much exclusively.
