Yeah I will defiantly check them out - they look like a good guitar. I have always wanted a 7 or 8 string hehe.

Check out those Shecters. They are really well made and 400 to 500 will set you up with a good guitar. The action on it, while not like the PRS, is really good. They are set up for 10 gauge strings and the stock pick ups have a ton of bass depth. They ae really popular with the heavy metal genre, but at the same time pretty versatile. Plus they are light. I used to swear by Les Pauls, but fuck having that 15 ton guitar around your neck. Take those good pick ups with a mahogany neck and make it lighter and beef it up with electronics. Your back and shoulders will thank you.

I really know nothing about LTD's.

Thanks, yeah that LTD guitar of mine is now the only one I use, I agree getting a little higher price range guitar is the way to go. I have had some cheaper guitars (like strats) and they are so buzzy as a bee. The LTD is a great guitar with the EMG-ESP pickup and keeps in tune really well. I bought it second hand 6 years ago for $400, well worth it as I like the flying V type styles the most.

Oh, and your guitar work is good. More than good actually. Nice control!

So, while I think the vocal effects are cool, got anything showing your actual vocals?

I was playing in an active band for a few years. Because I was composing in multiple tunings, I was using 5 guitars on stage. All acoustics. 3 were Martins, so I had some money in those. But........ there was me and my old friend Randy, who had large disposable incomes so, we put money in where the other guys who worked in the service industry could not. And that's fine. Randy more than me. Our banjo player was also a working psychologist, so he was making the big bucks. We pumped some money into some serious live sound gear to make it work. It was worth it.

I'm really fond of the modern mid range guitars. Martin has some really nice guitars for 800 to a grand. And Schecter for 500 is one of the best electrics I have ever played.....except for that PRS I posted in the gear thread. That one I grabbed for 900 on a sale. Normal retail is around a Grand. It's just such a good instrument. And it's an SE model that is made overseas for them. I'm thinking of saving for one of their signature models which is the American made ones. They are hand made in the US and are fast becoming considered one of the fine electrics. The neck design and the action are like butter. I swear I could blow on a string by a fret and get a clear tone.

Another Acoustic brand I have really looked at but not dropped money on is Breedlove. Really well made and good sounding acoustics you can get for under a Thousand dollars. The guy behind them was a luthier for Taylor and developed his own guitars and founded his own brand. I've also been eyeballing some of PRS's acoustics. I have not played those though.

When I was a teen and my dad saw I was getting serious about guitar, he bought me a Gibson SG, back in the 1970s. And somehow, found a Martin acoustic that was made in the 1950s. I had both for years and both, to this day, were probably the best guitars I ever held. I did not know what I had and sold them both after I had my first child on the way. And I think my father spent less than a thousand on both back then, on both guitars.

I use DI as I live in a high-rise apartment and with my Guitar (Alexi Laiho - LTD signature) and use Peavy Revalver 4 VST on the guitars and bass guitars - (Cort 5-string bass guitar), (only paid for 1 amp sim that I like the most - 'Blackened Angel' - cab and amp) and also use it on my Shreddage II VST on lead guitar through my Keyboard too. Also Korg M1 Synth sometimes too. EZ Drummer for the Drums. Sometimes Sforzando player (Shreddage picked bass edition) for bass.
I also have the Glenn Friker IR's and Lancaster Audio and Sigma - Audio Assault Amp sim too but I like Peavy Revalver 4 better, guitars are more meaty I find. Hope this helps.

Are you recording this through an amp or through software on the guitar? I've been thinking about doing something in this genre. I just bought a Shecter Omen 7 awhile back and have not done anything with it yet.
