New tuna! I'll catch up and listen to all youse guys good stuff this weekend. Probably be Sunday because I have been saving some money and I am going to reward myself for 10 years spending most of my time on the road in a truck. I am going to buy a new car tomorrow. A brand new car! Gonna get a 2022 Hyundai Kona. One of their cross over SUV's. Has the best fuel economy rating for that kind of car our there. 35 MPG highway! It's my reward to myself for having to do what I do. I gave up all my music related stuff that I was doing, all the bands and live gigs, to pay the bills 11 years ago. I am making payments on a used car but the car I have has some engine problems at higher milage and if I am making payments, I want a warranty. At me being 61 next month, this will probably be the last new car I ever buy. I fucking want it and I can afford it.
Anyhow, I was just listening to special David Bowie channel last week on sat radio and they were doing a "top 75" song countdown. Number 2 was Space Oddity and listening to it, it struck me how odd the mix was, with the drums on one side and the bass and guitars on the other. Leads came in on the drum side and vocals bounced all over the place. A lot of rock music in the early days was mixed very differently to what we think of a standards today. A big reason is because the had 2, 4 and then by the late 1960s 8 tracks. Early on in the mixing of bands, it was thought that mixing so they sounded like they would on stage was the way to go, so things were often placed in strange places to what we think of as standards today. And I could never follow the fucking rules! So hear ya go!

Glad I read that before watching for context on the panning. Good point. Things were wild and wooly back then before everyone settled into some semblance of standardization. Eerie, almost horror soundtrack. Really drew me in, especially when it was stripped back to nothing at the end.
And 10 years of the truck, crap I remember when that all started. Time sneaks up on you. Congrats!

Re: Wendigo
I pulled the trigger. New car is sitting in my driveway! I ended up going a little higher on the payments than what I wanted but it won't hurt too much. I won't go to the casino as often. I waste that much a month playing. I'm happy!
Yeah its been fun mixing in different ways and of course, I am staying pretty simple with what I do. Usually 5 or 6 tracks at the most so I have room to experiment. I like the sound of the drums and bass hard panned. Then I reversed that with the simple rhythm beat right in the center after the change.

Re: Wendigo
Firstly congrats on the new car!
Why did you choose Hiundai - even though they might have good value in the nowday's cars.
Anyway, the song was pretty cool. Did you once again build them from of the ready-made loops?
