silly ways to play synth
4 non-normal ways to play a eurorack synth all in one jam. No keyboards needed.
Not much happens here musically but it were fun to do.

Absolutely beautiful music $Bill, you have come so far with this modular synth and everything and this is so great!! I love all the coloured lights, and the video is very well done, great cuts to different angles and text explanations.
I have no idea about this sort of stuff, but this is top shelf stuff in my opinion!! Thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed this so much!! I hope your doing well and that, all the best!

Re: silly ways to play synth
Thank you!
The trick I use on 1-camera video is to fake it. All the main shots (and the zooms) from the main angle were recorded live along with the music so it matches up once you slide the mix around to replace the crap audio from the camera. All the other angle shots were done after the fact (sort of like lip syncing without lips) for showing details and alleviating the boredom of a single shot that just goes on forever.

If those clips were meant to go on fingers there’d be 5 …. Put them on your Nipples.

Ha! But the contacts are too far back from the tip to reach unless your nips are like thimbles. They were actually designed for electro-stim of ones earlobes using a tens machine, but as long as you get one with a jack identical to a mini-stereo headphone jack it'll work.Lasagna Pirate wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 1:57 amIf those clips were meant to go on fingers there’d be 5 …. Magical sounds, it's cool how you challenge yourself with all these exceptional ways to create these.

You're too kind, Ivan.
Thanks, though sometimes the methods can get rather silly - for an example, see my next one, which doesn't exist yet as I need to do some wiring and buy a potato.

Buy a potato?
Just find them in the ground like everyone else, silly.

Well, that is cool. Is the distortion intentional?
The first few notes had me thinking a resample of one of my songs.
Seems to me that that setup could produce a squalling cat fight really well.
I don't mean that in a bad way either.

Re: silly ways to play synth
I hit the tape hard and used an old tape with a few wrinkles in it, intentionally. The melody distortion was intentional but poorly handled as I have a mid/side encoding module that I've only used a little so I kind of blew it there - I wanted a clean center with some crispiness at the sides for a hint of age/lofi but the sides overwhelmed things.

Also 100 Grit is a mad distortion.
I might get one….. or not…. Because I need to stop putting distortion (and bit crush) on everything

Re: silly ways to play synth
I can get it to distort from a light rasp to total annihilation, but the thing I can't do yet is get the filter part of it to make sense as to which CV goes to which knob and where to stick a patch cable for a simple lfo sweep. I might have to break down and RTFM some day when my brain is working.Lasagna Pirate wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:10 amAlso 100 Grit is a mad distortion.

Re: silly ways to play synth
Love this one - especially the musical nipple-clamps. The tape loop sounds class too - sweet distortion.
*ping!*
Nice.
