Anyone still motivated to make a full-lenght album?

Well yeah, I remember that back then I was able to get motivated on the bigger projects, so making a full-length album didn't feel so overwhelming back then, but for years I haven't been able to get myself being arsed for that anymore.

I make track by track and also jump between different kind of genres. I might be ready to give a full length album a shot though AGAIN. I would be keen to make a 'club-party' album that makes the people destroy the dancefloor with their feet.
I might be ready for the challenge. I mean it would rock to make an album full of club music that would then be played in the night-clubs. Some tunes could be slower tempoish, but anyway - I would like to make the crowd cheer, scream and MOVE.

How about you, have you ever created an album and are you still motivated for that?

I never made an album.
And have no plans to do it.

Actually not sure about it either here... Most people make music single by single anyway.. :confused3:

I'd like to compile some old and new tunes I've made into an album some day, but right now I'm trying to just get a 3-4 tracks EP ready to send to a label friend and see what he thinks. Got loads of musician friends here in Oslo, so I can probably get some of them to remix the stuff too. I'd also like to save up money to cut some vinyls with dubstep, but that's more of a long term project.

Good luck! :cool_4:

As life ain't linear enough yet, I need to see if I'll go for an album or not. I feel motivated today, but tomorrow it might be changed again...
Life... :phucked up:

Unless all the tracks are joined by a common theme - EP or single by single is the way to go - audiences don't expect albums anymore but they do expect new output on a fairly regular basis. On the point of "motivated" now that I'm more or less housebound thanks to COVID19 I have the time to do a full project... so maybe maybe...

Yeah, there's no real reason to make a full album. Sure it would be cool, but it's not a must - as we can sell them one by one too through Spotify or any other online shop. :thumbup2:

I disagree with that people don't expect albums anymore. Lots of good albums coming out all the time, like Tyler The Creator's new IGOR, Grimes' new Miss Anthropocene, Flying Lotus' Flamagra, just to mention a few from recent time. Working on an album is a big undertaking and it's a different way of presenting your music than just releasing singles. I don't think that much of the "market" when making stuff, it's better to focus on making good music.

Well you know what guys, I started to make an album. It's gonna be mostly electronic mixed with rap. Techno, EDM, Club, Breaks, DnB, House, Dance, Chillout, Electronic... mixed with singing/rapping.
My first tracks is almost done. Trying to release it in the autumn. :)
Too much musical discipline ain't a good attitude. One rather lets the intuition fly and get a good flow in the producing side.
+ also giving every track enough time too. Awesome! :party2:

My friend Bjørn just released an album. It's a mix of old beats he made some time ago and new stuff.
He got two songs played on Jay Scarlett's Sounds Supreme podcast and one on Basic Soul Radio. Pretty damn cool if you ask me! Sending stuff to podcasts or blogs or similar media outlets is a good way to get some exposure.
He has the album up on Bandcamp, here's a link if you want to check it out.

We've talked about doing something together, but so far it has only been jam sessions. Might have to come up with a new name for that project.

Congrats to your friend!
I'm gonna give it a whirl over bandcamp at some point. And yes, one can do as many aliases for the different projects as one needs. I actually created a new one just two days ago too. I'm feeling very good and am excited about my life in the near-latest times.

The whole Corona thing as example also took me lots of pressure off. Not being sadist or anything, but sometimes these happenings may have some kind of a positive impact on some people.

Anyway, cool to see you around mate!
Hope you visit our place more oftenly.

Greetings from Finland! :)

Yeah, I think BC is the way to go nowadays.
I have a few names I've used over the years, but lately I've been sticking to Paralytik.

The crisis has fucked up my economy royally, not sure about how I'll survive the next month. Still waiting for the crisis package the government is working on.

And yes, more activity is good, but I don't have much to contribute with regarding Reason stuff. My main PC is at least rigged up in my new room now, but found out the keyboard is dead and I don't have a spare one, nor any money to get a new one. So no Reason songs from me quite yet.

Might also make a BC account. Right now I have PRO-account in the both, Soundcloud and Soundclick.

Paralytik is a good name IMO. :thumbup2:

Sorry that you're having crisis - hope the government hurries up.

But hey, we also have a 'hardware' and a ' other software' forums here so feel free to post in there too!

By the way, do you know what kind of a midi-keyboard you'd get?

Bandcamp is, from what I've understood, the best platform for selling right now (and has been for years). I buy stuff there all the time, mostly vinyl though, but you get lossless format downloads with that too.

Yeah, I'm happy with the Paralytik moniker, been using it for a couple of years for my dubsteppy things. I have the Soundcloud, the Bandcamp and the Youtube pages, and also the dot com address. Not much music has been made so far though, haha. But it's in the works!

And with keyboard I mean an actual keyboard to type on lol, I've got a few smaller MIDI keys I can choose from. A new keyboard would be cheap, but need to prioritize food and bus card and things like that. I'm working again now, but was temporarily laid off without pay for 6 weeks or something, so my whole budget is fucked for at least 2 months onwards.

I'm gonna try to set up some of my hardware in the new room and maybe make live jamming Youtube vids. So many plans but not enough disciplin or energy...

I have got plenty of music made, but I haven't yet got myself to make music, that would be intended i.e. 'it'.

Ah, ok. I could buy you a new one after two weeks when I recieve my money. Not anything fancy, but I could drop you 20€ for it.

Yeah, I'm also always having more plans than time, energy or money to accomplish stuff, hehe. :cussing:
