Me likey the beat of #4, always meant to use something similar but never get around to it. Like the reverse synths against swells too, and the build with the acid bass. Vocals more surreal.
#5 be chill and stuff. More reverse stuff, but a very different feel, dig the sound.
#6 starts out a weird continuation of #5 but then surprises with the quick alt rock. Cool way to cap it all off.
Not sure which is my fav, probably would depend on the day, there's a mood for every day here.

This has been sitting open on my desktop waiting for me to get to it - was sick and sort of ignored the world for a while there.

Yup I remember to original, sticky tune.
The fast drums of 2 was a surprise though I liked the misleading cold open.
The middle bass on 3 was really really awesome and the guitars worked well, gave it that old alt-rock feel but with an update.
I'll pause here as #4 starts but what a cool concept. Will be back though it might take me a day or so.

Neil, this is fucking brilliant! I love the concept. I am only on the third track and it works in a massive way! And your guitars are right there with the sound too. Like you said on FB, it was likely the phone recording getting the balance wrong.

Cool one - playing real instruments is fun! I play my midi keyboards in every song in the nowdays too. I also have a wood-drum that I've sampled and used in my music. But yeah, your guitars were nice. And I knew you pitch-shifted your vocals. I do that too sometimes. Cheers!

I liked the phrase "don't hurry in the end" if I heard it right about of the first track.

The second one is good for it's speedy beat. A bit hollow yet hypnotic.

The third one: Well you tend to make lots of the variations for the drums, which I like. Also digging the electric guitars.
The acid synths were good. The vocals worked in this version the most so far.

The fourth one: Mostly the same as the first 3 ones in tho mood-wise. Something really cool about these songs.

The fifth: Nice intro with the keys. The speed works well in the vocal-wise. Reminds a bit of the Massive Attack.
I wish I'd be a native English speaker to recognise the lyrics betterly.

The sixth one: An upbeat version? Cool tom-fills. The guitars work well in THIS version for me. Did you play them yourself?

The overall sound was dry and hollow, the dynamics clean. The style crowed on me while listening to the EP. Hypnotic and hollow, that still entertained me. Overall, liking the vocals and the hollowness. This kind of music feels like an alternative place, in a positive way. Well done Dolly!

So, some of you may dimly remember a video / tune I posted a few months ago called "Heat Death" - I've now finished the whole EP. The idea was to mutate the original song by doing a series of remixes with each new mix being the jumping off point for the next. It didn't quite work properly as I don't think I was strict enough in carrying over and mangling most elements from one iteration to the next: instead I just kept adding new instrumentation around a couple of parts and barely altered the vocals (beyond using some different tuning on them).

All the caveats out of the way though, I'm still happy with the end result. I suppose it helped that the original song was pretty robust by my standards, and allowed a fair amount of scope for re-working it over and over. Twas fun to do.
